Personal Definition. The class was an introduction to the study of psychology. We studied a wide variety of topics over the very broad discipline of psychology. The class was a look at many different parts of psychology. Unfortunately we could not delve too much in depth into all the subjects because there are too many, but we still were able to look into a lot of things. Including the history and origins of psychology, and the famous groundbreaking psychologists. There was a lot of focus of the roots of psychology and the people responsible for bringing the science to the United States, as well as popularizing it. There was much focus on the biological factors that relate to psychology, like how different stages of development changes thinking. Specifically how the brain forms in pregnancy and changes during childhood and continues to form throughout adulthood. We studied the basic functions and anatomy of our senses, eyes, ears, and nervous system. We also learned about different mental health disorders and how they are classified. We learned how to identify the symptoms of various mental health disorders, ranging from mood disorders to schizophrenia. As well as all the different drugs used to treat the disorders. Everything was tested on 4 tests over the semester. The tests were comprised of 80 multiple choice questions.
