When I went to the Involvement Fair I talked to many different clubs to see what they had to offer. I signed up to be emailed by the aquaponics club, rugby, and Psy Chi, but the club that seemed the most interesting to me was the Outing Club. The general theme of the club is to be active and go outdoors, usually in the form of rock climbing, hiking, or white water rafting etc. The representative for the club told me about the many events that the club has. They take an annual trip to Acadia National Park, as well as going on a white water rafting trip. There is an upcoming rock climbing trip to Portland within the next few weeks. The club goes hiking a lot, sometimes in Maine, and sometimes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I am from New Hampshire and have enjoyed frequently hiking in the White Mountains during the summer. This club seems like it could be a good fit for myself because I really enjoy hiking and being outside. I was interested in this club and was going to visit their booth at the organization fair before this writing assignment was even assigned. I think it could be a good opportunity to meet more people on campus. I am sure there will be a bunch of people I can get along with in this club since we likely have similar interests. I’m glad there is an opportunity to go hiking for people while still in school.
