The major thing that I didn’t see for the goals for the business administration major is that there’s a lack of the history and traditions of that major. There is a lot of emphasis on economics and social implication for business. Mostly because that has a lot to do with the types of jobs that this major typically leads to. There are a lot of goals of the major that correlate to the four meta genres. Especially the problem solving and empirical inquiry meta genres. A good example of a way of doing in the business administration major that leads to ways of knowing is one of the department’s learning outcomes. “Demonstrate an ability to conduct methodological, secondary research into business issues, which may relate to general business or to a specific business function, which requires familiarity with a range of data, research sources and appropriate methodologies.” Conducting the research and using sources and data will lead to ways of knowing, therefore it must be a way of doing. Learning the actual solutions to the business related problem is the way of knowing.
